Mycobacterium phage Gator is a virus that infects the bacterial species Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is the causative agent of tuberculosis (TB). Gator is a member of the family Siphoviridae and belongs to the subfamily Myoviridae. It was isolated from a patient with TB in the United States and was characterized in a study published in 2018. The genome of Gator is approximately 63 kilobases in size and encodes a total of 95 open reading frames. Gator has been shown to be lytic, meaning it is able to kill its host cells during the infection process. Further research is needed to understand the potential role of Gator and other mycobacteriophages in the treatment of TB.

My work on the virus can be found in the medical publication, here.
